Because the stories are written to inspire fear of the main character into the readers -- better do as the big guy says, or he'll wipe you out!
As time went by and people noticed that, in reality, the big guy *didn't* actually wipe people out for ignoring his supposed wishes, christianity took the same old-testament concept of the big guy punishing you for disobeying, and moved it to the afterlife instead of the real world. That (in their minds) neatly solved the problem of people ignoring claims about the big guy's laws and not getting punished, with the notion that they'll get their punishment later, in the afterlife, by being cast into a fiery pit of hell for all eternity. It still serves to scare gullible people.
Peace. In the Christian mythology book, The Bible, why does the main character kill so many people?
I am not familiar with a book of mythology by that title. There is, however a book written by God which is called the Bible. I can understand your confusion.
EDIT:
Yes, written by God. In answer to your question, I am 30, flirty, and thriving. :) Oh, and quite intelligent, educated, and able to critically think through issues for myself. The Bible is God's Word - I don't expect you to agree, but the author does not change simply because you disagree.
1) the Bible is no myth.
2) God does what is righteous and holy, but that's really none of your concern as an unbeliever, is it?
3) Yes, the Bible is the inspired word of Almighty God, recorded by man.
4) You did insult the Bible, dear. own up, and better ask forgiveness while you're at it.In the Christian mythology book, The Bible, why does the main character kill so many people?
It strikes fear into the hearts of the believers. Fear is a great motivator. If you think there are no consequences for your actions you will do as you want. If you think some guy in the sky is going to hit you with lightening, drown you, or give you some kind of disease then you will watch yourself haha.
Why do you need to insult the Bible in order to ask a question? Why not just try asking?
God created all life and is in control of all things at all times. Who He physically removes from this earth is something only One Who can see infinity will understand.
See how easy it is to be polite in the face of rejection and slander? In the Christian mythology book, The Bible, why does the main character kill so many people?
Why do you focus so much on the negative rather than the positive? Read Micah 7:18-20, Jonah 3:10, Romans 8:28, John 10:10, Romans 6:23. It is impossible for us to understand God's standard of holiness. We never would deal with people so harshly because we are just as evil as they are and cannot see through God's holy eyes. But God has done everything He can to spare us. Jesus paid for our sins so we can go to heaven. The only way for God to stop evil is to take away our free will which He can't do. So instead of focusing on how God has punished those who have been stubborn and defiant, why not focus on all the people God has had mercy on because they repented and the mercy God has shown you by giving you another day of life?
"I like to picture my Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt... ...cuz it says, Hey I'm formal, but I like to party." -
Every poorly written work of horror fiction needs a magic mass-murdering maniac to keep the readers happy.
Its writers believed that would make it great literature.
LOL at the fact that you're questioning how hold someone else is, after posting such a trollish, tired "question". :D
"I the Lord your God am a jealous God."
Stop misinterpreting the Bible!!! I know it says He kills people but it doesn't really mean it like that! God is loving!
Because they won't do what he wants.
'Psychopaths' love blood almost as much as those who worship them.

'Cos murder is a best seller
You mean the Jewish book? don't have the galls to ask them?
