Can anyone identify this christian book?

About 10 7 years ago i was in jail and read a book i have been trying to find again.

I think it was Tail Hook or something like that, but doubt its that name since that is also the name of a famous scandal.

Here's the story line:

A young man goes to Vietnam having gotten engaged and ready to marry as soon as he returns from his tour. However on the tail end of his tour he gets a Dear John letter from her saying that she has all ready married while he was gone.

He returns home and tries to start a new life, but remains in the military. He soon meets a wonderfull woman who loves him being in the military, and they move to his new assignment in Germany. However the life she dreamed of soon becomes a fairy tale, as he doesnt go to huge get togethers and other things she had heard of.

With his marriage in danger, he starts thinking of leaving the military, but gets offered a way to make major money, moving some race cars from Austria (i think) to Germany, but nearly gets caught smuggling (i think gold).

However somehow he gets found out about, and is arrested. His wife leaves him. While in a dark jail, contemplating his future, he has a life changing situation. In a vision he meets jesus.

After that, he becomes a christian, and gets off from the charges against him. Discharged from the military, he returns home, his former wife not wanting him to be anything but a friend.

At some point as he enters a new christian life, he meets a woman with at least one child. The end of the book has her child confront him about marriage, in which he says he would ask her, and then the kid brings the mom in and he finds out it was a set up.

It ends with them talking about their future in christianity.

If ANYONE has any idea what book this is please tell me.Can anyone identify this christian book?
