Would you read a book that had the words "Christian Fiction" on the cover?

What if a friend recommended a book to you, saying that it was a great action/adventure story, but when you checked it out at the library, the cover had the words "christian fiction"?Would you read a book that had the words "Christian Fiction" on the cover?
Well I'm a Christian, and yes I would read it. I think it being, Christian fiction, it just means that its a made up story that has Christian material. Probably written by a Christian person...
Yes. Unless it's just too badly written.Would you read a book that had the words "Christian Fiction" on the cover?
There are some great books about Christians or containing a Christian Theme that are regarded as fiction but are based on true stories or events. :)
Yes I would, the plot would likely be transparent and it wouldn't really be a novel but a thinly veiled propaganda message with god/jesus influencing the end.Would you read a book that had the words "Christian Fiction" on the cover?
In my experience, i''ve only read one example of Christian Fiction that was entertaining at all. The Bible
No, in general things that are aimed at a specific niche markets in general are lower in quality. They use the labels as a sales tool, knowing they have a captive audience. There are plenty of authors who market their books without such labels, despite being Christian themed or "inspirational." If an author chooses to label themselves with a "brand" as a crutch to sell books, they must also accept the negatives of that brand name as well. Let's be honest, works marketed as "Christian fiction" like "Christian music" have well earned reputations of being mediocre and derivative. If they were great books, they wouldn't feel the need to label them as such. This general rule of mine applies to "urban" books as well. I simply don't consider looking at that section any more than mysteries.

Often, such authors are heavy handed in their propaganda.

If a friend recommended such a book to me, I'd question their judgment and likely discount things they said in the future based upon that. Tastes vary, unless you're a teenage girl, your taste in books is most likely not going to match your friends and neighbors.
