it seems to me the reason for bible stories is not that they are historically accurate.. but what they mean... or why they were important to people then, or now, or both
opinions?Would science and religion better coexist if not for Christian's insistence the bible is a science book?
It'd be so much better if people would just admit it's Myth.
It would certainly help things along. Perhaps if my mom and grandparents didn't insist to me that it is a science and history book, I'd still be a theist. So I suppose I should thank them. :DWould science and religion better coexist if not for Christian's insistence the bible is a science book?
I've never seen the Bible as a science book, but definitely a history book and they are finding evidence everyday about what was written in the bible, I mean how else could you explain jerusalem? Oh sorry, since the bible is false then Jerusalem doesn't exist.
Historically, when the Bible (not mere interpretations, but the books themselves) and science differ, science is eventually found to be wrong. I have never seen a problem between the Bible and other books of history except for those people bent on creating one.Would science and religion better coexist if not for Christian's insistence the bible is a science book?
Science and the moral use of science coexisted beautifully for centuries upon centuries, and still can. Check out "How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization" by Thomas Woods. I think you will be astonished at what you discover.
Holy smokes, Helga has a rather large masticating orifice. She should put some pie in it maybe.
Science and religion can't co-exist in the sense that one could play off the other. One is based upon facts and things that can be proven by various methods while the other relies entirely upon faith, a non existent thing with regards to science.
But you see, history and the bible do coexist. Archeological finds in Jerusalem are pointing towards truth in the bible.
Allegory is not meant to be taken literal nor historical.
Bible has ample "evidence" to make this "evident":
"no man is justified by the law in the sight of God".
Science and religion could never coexist. Science is reasonable and genuine. But religion is completely unreasonable and false.
Yes. Especially Old Testament.
