The SacrificeWhat good christian fiction book have you read?
I have read many books by Gilbert Morris. He writes wonderful Historical Fiction. All his books are written from a Christian perspective.
One series, "The House of Winslow" (40 books), starts with Gilbert Winslow coming to America on the Mayflower and then follows his family offspring through to the 2nd. world war. He has other series as well. Each book is over 300 pages.
I have read more than 60 of his books! If your church library does not have his books try some of the other local churches.
I hope you can find his books, I feel they are worth the effort.
Looking over my reading journal for the past few years, I find these.
By G. K. Chesterton:
- The Man Who Was Thursday
By C. S. Lewis:
- the first three of the Chronicles of Narnia:
-- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
-- Prince Caspian
-- The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- the "Deep Heaven" SF series:
-- Out of the Silent Planet
-- Perelandra
-- The Dark Tower (unfinished)
-- That Hideous Strength
by Charles Williams:
-- War in Heaven
-- Many Dimensions
-- Shadows of Ecstasy
-- All Hallows' Eve
by George MacDonald:
-- Lilith
I'm only counting as "Christian" fiction those with a strong and overt Christian slant to the story. Of course I've read other works by Christian authors, particularly J.R.R. Tolkien, who certainly represents a Christian view, but not for the most part overtly.
Of these, I can particularly recommend the Lewis books (with a note that Narnia is aimed at children or those few adults with a taste for such things) and those of Williams, of which "All Hallows' Eve," published (alas!) posthumously, is undoubtedly the best. What good christian fiction book have you read?
