both the bible and quran contain errors. but the LOTR's doesn't have any errors and just as many facts. Why not make the lord of the rings the official christian and muslim holy book?
Ah, but isn't the presence of errors, contradictions, inconsistencies and sheer ludicrous delusion one of the essential hallmarks of a religious text?
If LOTR were used, what would happen to all the people that are kept out of trouble by trying to jump through unreachable hoops so as to try to justify their faith? Such idle hands might turn out to cause real problems!
Edit:
I suspect your primary purpose in life is to detect all those people who have a GSOH malfunction; if so, you're doing rather a god job...
It has questionable theology, what with the Valar, and the Elves and their magic. Now, on with the slaughter...:D
@Fireball and Carcharodon and others: there is no such thing as "word of god". OK? Fine, we could argue about that, but what is beyond debate is that I (and the Rev) can judge whatever book of myths we choose to whenever we feel like it. Deal with it. We deal with the fundamentalist idiocy all the time.
@Liberal Asskicker: another ignorant bible-thumper unaware of modern Biblical research.
@Holly and P-LP: take a class in Biblical studies from an accredited institution. The errors start in genesis and continue on, if you take the text literally, of course, which plenty of morons do.
@Megz: the bible is a largely fictional account as well. your point?
@Peshe: LotR is not Science fiction. Learn your literary genres. Both it and the Bible are mythical/epic fantasies.
@Jabberwock: remember, there are several versions of LotR and the Silmarillion; with significant differences: in the earliest LotR, for example, Strider's name was Trotter...so there plenty of room for disagreement...:)Why not make the lord of the rings the official christian and muslim holy book?
See, I am right in my thinking. The questions are indeed getting more desperate.
If you have nothing to contribute, pick on something in the Bible which Christians can defend, and Atheists can applaud for your clever contribution.
Your question as it stands, definitely makes Atheists look stupid. Again my opinion, not an insult.
You can always tell when an question is not too clever. All the Atheists shy away from commenting because whatever they say will make them sound not clever.
Next intelligent question please?????
Because Lord of the Rings is fictional.
Yes, the bible and qu'ran may have flaws but they are accounts of actual events.
My thumbs down must have been caused by trolls. Run along now and worship Merry and Pippin. Why not make the lord of the rings the official christian and muslim holy book?
Go ahead, but my religion that worships the Harry Potter books is going to have to launch a crusade against the LOTR people to capture the true Hogwarts
I always laugh when atheists as insecure as yourself, so terrified with discovering who you are, feel the need to constantly demean others beliefs...as if they're hurting you. It's a little disgraceful, really.
yet another stupid question from someone who knows very little......
and where are these so-called "errors" that you say the Holy Bible contains?
why don't you ask a more intelligent question? don't waste everyone's time.
Because it is a Sci-Fi
Science -Fiction and is not real, there is nothing holy about it
Middle Earth outlawed religion years ago.
Yeah, well, I think having that big flaming eye ball following me around is just not what I had in mind.
I wonder how the very Catholic J.R.R. Tolkien would feel about that.
can we add harry potter to the list, i learned more from hogwarts than i did from church.
cuz it isnt the word of God and you dont get to judge the BIBLE WHICH IS HOLY.
I like talking IN ALL CAPS to make points.
Actually, good idea.
I'd have no problem praying to Frodo.
Thats a silly question sorry it made me laugh
well bcz its not th word of God simple :)
I would so join in a heart beat. LOTR FTW.
show me these errors everyone keeps talking about. i don't see any thing wrong with the Bible. God bless
good point
if only it was written 2000 years ago
the early bird gets the worm
Isa 34:16 See what is recorded in the book of the Lord: all these will be there, not one without the other: the mouth of the Lord has given the order, and his spirit has made them come together.
I get the joke....but the Quran has never been edited like the Bible has.
The Quran has never been edited, and every single Quran is the same, unlike the Bible where there are many versions.
Another idiot Bible hater who doesn't have the guts to be specific.
The Lord of the Rings is not His word and you do not judge the Holy Bible.
