Simple. Every one of them "picks" and chooses the parts they like... and discards the parts they don't like. Easy enough, right?Christians, How can one book(the Bible) be interrupted to 38,000 Christian denominations ?
RHEMA!
How can it NOT !!Christians, How can one book(the Bible) be interrupted to 38,000 Christian denominations ?
Interrupted by what?
This silliness is brought up here every day.
So okay, who should we listen to? You?Christians, How can one book(the Bible) be interrupted to 38,000 Christian denominations ?
It was interrupted by that pervert Paul.
Perhaps you meant %26lt;interpreted%26gt;.
.
Well, I don't believe in the bible, but I do believe in proper use of the language. Get a dictionary and look up both the meaning AND the spelling of the words you want to use!
When people who are unsaved start interpreting it you will get what you see today. Then you have those who are saved and just stay in that denomination because of their parents, neighberhood, school, etc.
interrupted?
I don't understand the question.
False doctrine, twisting of the truth, false interpretation, adding of non-scriptural elements and traditions.
There is only one full-gospel denomination and that is the Evangelical Church. Anyone who denies the doctrine of Jesus as God the Son resurrected is in error. Anyone who tries to add others (i.e. Mary and co) as co-equal with our Redemptor and Savior, Jesus Christ is in error. Anyone who professes a Gospel different from that preached by the early Church (read the Book of Acts!) is in error.
SImple.
Well at least you spelled "38,000" right.
Interrupted?? Did you mean interpreted? Most Christians, despite their denominational differences, believe in all of the essentials of the faith that the Bible teaches. All protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox churches believe Jesus was the son of God and the Savior of the world. 97% of all of the denominations recognize the holy trinity. The wedges that exist are in the doctrinal details and specific church practices. St. Augustine said it best, "In the essentials let there be unity, in the non-essentials let there be liberty, but in all things let there be charity(love)." Were the body of Christ(the entire church, all denominations included) able to live by this principle we may well have ended world hunger by now.
If you let the idea that because many translations of the Bible exist or many Christian denominations exist Christianity is somehow not the Truth, you are missing the point.
The Holy Spirit speaks to each of us in a way that makes the most sense. He brings understanding of the Scriptures to us as we hear and read them. Some people prefer to worship the Lord in a very liturgical service; whereas, others prefer a more contemporary service, complete with a band. Regardless, the Lord is glorified and praised.
It is the nature of men to believe that they are right in the interpretation of the bible.
One possible reason... some people believe the bible... I am referring to the New Testament should not be taken "literal". Then how do you think God wants you to take it? If it is not taken literal then how should we take it? God doesn't make mistakes. The Bible is the way He intended it to be as written by God through the Holy Spirit given to the apostles.
If can't. The bible does not change in meaning. The only changes would be when man decides that the meaning of something is different than what another denomination thinks. Gods word is Gods word, man cannot change it. In order to determine what denominations are following the Word of God, you must take their thouhts and measure them against what the Bible says. Just reading a scripture once, doesn't cut it. You must think carefully about each verse and measure human thinking against it. Metaphores need to be studied and measured before any understanding can be attained.
I love this question. Mary Baker Eddy wrote that human understanding of God is going through a chemicalization, that is, every false idea of God is being burned away while the correct conceptions of God are to grow, until, eventually, there will only be One, perfect and correct concept of God. If you are seeking truth and seeking God, these two paths will eventually converge at the same place. Unfortunately, we as a human race in 2009, we seem to be a very very long way away from this place. There are many lies, and too many people who are willing to accept the lies instead of seeking truth and understanding.
I really don't believe that there are 38,000 different denominations.
And anyway- so what if there are? The core belief is that Jesus IS the Christ of the God of Abraham- Christ is God with us, Emmanuel.
All other disagreements are minor, and we don't fight about that. So what if we so choose to meet up with others who are in alignment with our nuances?
The core belief is what counts. God said his Church is universal- where ever two are three are gathered in his name- there I AM is in midst of them.
Jesus never intended on his followers creating a visible organization- with "holy men" leading them. HE is the head, the Word is the only thing we need.
Jesus is "The Way" not some organization of this earth, holding power over you.
You mean interpreted?
Easy....no other church on earth except the One, Holy Catholic Apostolic Church has a final authority with the gift of grace to interpret the Sacred Scriptures under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
All other churches are free to interpret it on their own. However, if this were truly of God (and it isn't) then the Holy Spirit would have that ALL persons reading it would ALL come up with the exact same interpretation -- 100% of the readers, 100% of the time, 100% of the exact same interpretation because God/Truth is One and God cannot be divided against Himself. It's the reason Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist (Transubstantiation), Martin Luther believed in Jesus' Presence WITH the bread (Consubstantiation); John Calvin and Hulyrich Zwingli each believed something else in terms of what the Eucharist means. Whenever you have two or more conflicting interpretations, error is necessarily present. Interpretations are not up for grabs or whatever you want them to mean.
In Jesus' day, the scribes and Pharisees prefaced their questions/comments to Jesus with, "Moses said..." Jesus would often counter with, "...but I say to you..."
However, Jesus is seen putting even his own followers directly under the obedience of the Pharisses when he says very clearly in MT 16...."the scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses' seat...therefore you MUST OBEY them and DO EVERYTHING they tell you..." He never once said, "well, IF you agree with them..." which meant that, according to Jesus, it was perfectly fine to a human authority in charge. They were the interpreters of the Law.
Further, some churches do not belive in the notion of the Rapture (which is a manmade thing from the mid-1800's); some groups believe the rapture will come before the so-called Tribulation; some belive the rapture will come after the Trib and others believe it will come during the Trib. If this teaching were truly of God, then ALL groups would believe in it AND all groups (100%) would be in 100% agreement as to when it will take place. I just described 4 scenarios:
No rapture
Rapture before Trib
Rapture during Trib
Rapture after Trib
Looks like 75% of you WILL be wrong....terrible odds, don't you think?
So....unless your church has a legitimate final authority (and not a committee or commission for interpretations) then your church cannot be a legitimate one.
An informed Catholic
