yes I am a Christian. And I just bought a book called Knowing the Face of God the search for a personal relationship with God.
And I like going to the that book store.I also recently bought a book called Heaven by randy Alcorn. What a good book. I enjoyed it.
There is things I want to get at that book store like more books.Should I have a shopping spree at my local Christian book store?
Probably better to read widely than concentrate on one subject. Constant affirmation by reading constantly about the same viewpoint doesn't allow you to develop a balanced view of life. "How can you say your favourite cheesecake is strawberry when you've never tasted blueberry cheesecake?" is an over-simplification, but you get my point.
The God Delusion by Dawkins provides a very sensible alternative that asks you why strawberry is your favourite and asks how you can best know the answer to that question for sure.
Why not? Food for the mind, food for the spirit.Should I have a shopping spree at my local Christian book store?
No, religion is good, but if you start to make it a very big deal then it will consume your life. Belive and pray to whatever god you belive in and do what ever it is you do (I'm an Agnostic Theist so I don't know much about christianity) but don't let religion consume your life.
I'd suggest:
Atheism: The Case Against God by George H Smith
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins
The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan (or any other of his amazing works)
or Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.
-It never hurts to examine all sides of something- that's how progress happens, personally and in the world.Should I have a shopping spree at my local Christian book store?
Why do you feel the need to ask us for permission? We aren't your parents, or responsible for your moral or spiritual guidance. It's (presumably) your money, or money that's been given to you to spend as you see fit. So if buying books from that shop makes you feel happy, or you think it's the right thing to do, or you like the guy behind the counter, go right ahead.
Personally, I think organised religion is an abomination that's been responsible for more death and misery than anything else in human history, and the sooner we grow out of it, the better... but that wasn't what you asked.
Although I'm a bit confused about your question, I have a good book recommendation. Redeeming Love. It is so amazing. You'll love it. :) Also, my favorite Christian series is Narnia. Trust me- they are fantastic no matter your age.
-hope I helped :)
You should get A Voice in the Wind Trilogy by Francine Rivers or Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
Or Safely Home by Randy Alcorn, or Heaven by Randy Alcorn.
