Before trying to become an author, research the publishing industry. Unless you're trying to get ripped off, there are plenty of free-publication options for you. Traditional publishing is like winning a contest with a generous prize, and you pay no entry fee.
Also, the market is saturated with books of the type you described. Maybe you should try something else. (Friendly advice -- not trying to be rude.)
