My friend wrote a book about how the Lord brought her through a life of enduring hurt. She based it on the Fruit of the Spirit. Secular people want to change it into a more worldly book. Please advise us. Thank you.How do you get a Christian book published?
Hey, congrats! Not everyone has the courage to face the publishing industry even if their literature is highly recommended for public consumption. Because you already have your materials, the next thing you might decide on doing is to find a publisher who will be your retailer, publisher, editor and distributor at the same time - which is of course not that easy to find.
Maybe you would like to ask around and perhaps shop around. Many would also suggest getting an agent which could take SO long for them to sit down and actually notice what you have there and believe me, we are not just talking months here but years. Let me give you something to peruse at while you are at it and hopefully this will help in your ride to the wagon of success. I wish you luck. Find a publisher such as Xlibris who will help market your book to the right audience. :)How do you get a Christian book published?
Go to the library or bookstore and get a copy of THE WRITER'S MARKET . It contains the names and addresses of every publisher in the US by categories. It also tells what type of material each one accepts, and in what formats. It even has the names of editors so you can address your submission directly to them. How do you get a Christian book published?
Congratulations on your accomplishment. You have achieved a goal for which so many strive: completion of your book. This is an achievement of which you should sincerely be very proud.
One option you may want to consider is going the self-publishing route. It's becoming more difficult, in this rough economic climate, to find a trade publisher willing to expend the money to pick up a work by a new or unknown author. If the desire is there, however, to see your work published, you do not have to sit and wait for a trade house to make this a reality.
There are many self-publishing options available to authors, from full-service subsidy publishers such as Dorrance Publishing to low-cost print-on-demand services, like RoseDog Books. These companies can help you take your raw manuscript through a pre-press process that gets it into shape for publication.
Whatever route you may choose, please do due diligence and research the company in which you are interested through the Better Business Bureau. This service, which is available at no cost and online, is valuable to be sure the company with which you are thinking of working is an active member willing to do what is necessary to satisfy its customers.
