Crossing the Tiber.-Steve Ray
The Lamb's Supper.-Scott Hahn
" Peace with God" by Billy Graham...its excellent.
Wild at Heart by John and Stasi Eldredge. I haven't read it but I have read the girl version of it which is called Captivating. Really good book that every woman should read.
In all honesty, I'm not a Christian, but I hear a Purpose-Driven Life is a good book. I haven't read it, but it must be good if it's known outside of the Christian community.
"Finding Darwin's God" is quite interesting. It's by Kenneth R. Miller. It is a mixture of science and religion, if he is into science. It gives you a great perspective of the world, the science of evolution, and how it can be implemented with religion if you wish, whether that be in an atheist or theist way. Great for the free thinker... and very interesting.
edit: You could consider it a "Christian book" because it's written by a devout Catholic.
I remember on the Colbert Report there was a book on how to get your life together after prison. I think you should send that instead.
St Augustine "My Confessions"...amazing!! St Augustine writes about his conversion. He was considered a "bad man" but then totally turns around and is now and has been for centuries a saint and a doctor of the Church! :)
My Utmost for His Highest.
Oswald Chambers
The Shack by William P. Young
It's a fiction book, and it's very gripping. Not for the faint of heart but extremely meaningful and powerful.
Yes, the whole series of books written by Merlin Carothers starting with "Prison to Praise." Then get "Power in Praise" and "Answers to Praise", "Walking and Leaping and Praising God", "Victory on Praise Mountain," "What's on Your Mind?", etc.
Letters to a Christian Nation
by Sam Harris.
I'm more into apologetics. so all the books on Christianity deal with that. One that I read recently though is good for anyone in any place in their spiritual walk. It's called A Tale Of Two Sons by John MacArther. It's a commentary on the prodigal son parable.
"Heaven is Place on Earth" by Michael Wittmer

John Eldredge: "Wild at Heart"
Here is a description of the book:
Helping men discover their masculine heart, this guide to understanding Christian manhood and Christian men offers a refreshing break from the chorus of voices urging men to be more responsible, reliable, dutiful . . . and dead.
Many men I know have read this book and it has changed their lives...it's great.
The Case for Christ - The man who wrote it set out to prove there was no God and in the midst of his mission he actually accepted Christ!
My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I can't recommend it highly enough. You might also consider Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.
EDIT - He might enjoy Born Again by Charles Colson.
As an atheist, i still feel like I know the perfect answer to this question.
It's called Velvet Elvis and it's by Pastor Rob Bell. It's a Christian book I read at a friend's house and it just felt RIGHT. I still don't believe in God, but it was more about Christianity than God and it made me believe in Christianity. Does that make sense? It was honestly amazing. I would like to read it again, now that i think about it...
"Simply Christian" by N.T. Wright, a most excellent and current book. Look it up on Amazon. It changed my life, for sure.
Jesus Freaks is an AMAZING book I am now reading, about Christian martyrs that were jailed, tortured, and killed for their belief in Jesus. Although it talks about negative things happening to ppl, it is uplifting in it's own way. Look it up and see for yourself. It talks about encounters they had with angels and Jesus himself. I strongly encourage this book!
Also a book recomended by my pastor is Azuza St. a book i have not read but is next on my list. It is about some teens who experienced a series of miracles.
The Holiness of God: R.C. Sproul. Best book ever.
Isn't it odd that so many folks that have screwed up and are in jail or prison 'find god' until they get out?
