How can I promote a christian book?

I just wrote a book called the Power of Deliverance and the publisher is charging an arm and a leg to promote it. I want to know how can I take advantage of the internet to sell my book online and also make contacts for offline sales? How can I promote a christian book?
Try crossing over into different christian religous sects. Make contact with leaders and give them free copies to read it.How can I promote a christian book?
For my book "Christian Investing and Money Management" I have taken the following steps to advertise this book, which I hope will be useful for you as well.

I began by contacting all of the Christian book stores here that I could locate to advise them that the official Australian release date of my book would be March 07.

I made up a color advertising flyer, an About the Author page, a copy of the press release, which I had sent to online press release sites and an introductory letter which I posted out to the stores.

Initially I was advising them that Ingram was the international distributor, but I soon started getting feedback, requesting an Australian distributor. I then went and registered myself with an Australian Business Number, and worked out my pricing structure and recontacted the bookstores with this.

I have been really happy with the responce from the bookstores who have taken on my book. One of them even sold out in less than a week and placed a second order, which was really encouraging.

I am also advertising my books on my own website, which is getting plenty of search engine traffic. I have written books specifically on Property Investment, as well as my Christian books on finances and Bible Prophecy, which are all advertised in different places on my website. Currently when anyone types "Property Investment Book" into Google, my site comes up number one, which is awesome and typing "Investment Book" still comes up on the first page.

I have also written numerous articles which I use for a twofold purpose, 1. To advertise and link to the 50+ Christian websites that we have up and running as part of our Internet Evangelism Ministry and 2. to also link to my website to advertise my books.

With all of the advertising techniques I have tried, ie: free ad sites, traffic exchanges etc. I have found that articles, and the search engines have brought me the most sales.

I also approached Christian magazines and ezines several months prior to the Australian release to enquire if they would be interested in doing a review.

I am really blessed that 'Christian Woman' have just done a review in their May/June edition and 'Trowel and Sword' have done one in their April edition.

Having your own website with articles you have written is also a good way of letting readers get a feel for your writing technique.
